Alex Scarborough

Poetry from the edges about the spaces nobody bothers to name.

About

A portrait of poet Alex Scarborough. Taken in a restaurant with a huge burger in front of him. Alex is wearing a denim jacket and sunglasses on his head.

Alex Scarborough is a poet from Hertfordshire, UK currently living in Sydney and writing poems that don't quite belong to either place.

He studied songwriting at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance. It turns out to be surprisingly good training for free verse, but absolutely no training for anything else.

His work explores edges: the boundaries of masculinity, the quiet negotiation of human limits and the in-between spaces that don't make it onto maps but somehow feel the most lived-in.

Recently, his poems have appeared in Ink Sweat & Tears and Cacti Fur. He is currently working on his debut pamphlet.

His day job is in marketing, which has taught him nothing useful about submitting poetry.
